The 7-foot tall security guard at the front desk of my day job handed me a book by Zig Ziglar called, See You At The Top. He’s an ex-motivational speaker who retired to desk work because he got sick of the hustle.
On the first page is a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that says,
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
I thought about how some of you have shared how much you miss the way your relationships used to be. You wish they looked at you like when you first met and you wish they paid the same attention to you today.
It happens with all relationships, not just intimate ones. For those of us with kids we go from being their hero to being an embarrassment to their very existence.
Relationships evolve because people evolve and we can’t control that.
But what if you could shower yourself with the same admiration that others have had for you – at any given moment and feel satisfied? You can control that.
I remember having my very first Dominant . . . (click read more to see the rest of the story).
(I realize that statement probably requires more explanation, and more will come as I share. For the purposes of this message, I’ll just say that a dominant is a type of life-coach).
We’ll call him Dan. Dan the Mighty Dom : /
Dan gave me an assignment. He asked me to strip down completely naked, stand in front of the mirror and write him a letter telling him what I saw.
Ohhh wait…I literally just realized maybe he wanted a physical description? : \
What I thought his point was? He said he wanted me to see the same brilliance he saw in me.
He surprised me by asking me to do it a year later so I could see how much I’d grown…in confidence.
I realize this appeals to women more than men. What man doesn’t already stand in the mirror and see his own brilliance? (Right ladies?)
But ladies, or you men in touch with your feminine sides, I ask you, can you stand naked, look at yourself, and see the sparkling brilliance that lies within you?
Can you see your possibilities and your potential?
Zig Ziglar said,
All that other crud you got to help you with your goals? Fuget-abat-it.
Get alone, take your clothes off, look in the mirror. Spend time there. What do you see? (No jokes about yourself allowed!)
Can you see what Zig said when you look at yourself? Be brutally honest. There are no right or wrong answers. Write down what you see. Then put it in an envelope and open it next year. Let’s see what happens.
If you want you may send me your letter to me and I'll remind you next year to do it again:
